Frequently asked questions
The questions we actually get asked, answered without marketing padding. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
What is the smallest order you will handle?
As a rough floor, about a pallet. Below that, freight and handling costs per unit rise to the point where you are better off buying from a wholesaler — and we would tell you so.
There is no fixed unit minimum, because it depends entirely on the product. A pallet of ceramics and a pallet of knitwear are very different order values.
The factory's minimum order is far higher than I need. What now?
This is the single most common reason people contact us. There are three honest routes: pool your order with other buyers so the combined volume clears the factory minimum; find a different factory whose minimum genuinely fits your size; or accept a higher unit price in exchange for a smaller run.
We will tell you which of the three applies. What we will not do is promise a factory will make 200 units at a 5,000-unit price.
How does order pooling actually work?
When several of our buyers want the same or a very similar product, we combine those volumes into one purchase order to the factory. The factory sees an order above its minimum; each buyer receives their own share at pricing none of them could have reached alone.
It requires some flexibility on timing and specification, and it is not always available — it depends on whether other buyers happen to want something comparable at the same time. We tell you before you commit whether your order is pooled or standalone.
Do I pay customs duty on goods from Türkiye?
Under the EU–Türkiye Customs Union, most industrial and processed goods move between Türkiye and the EU without customs duty, provided the goods qualify and travel with a valid A.TR movement certificate. Import VAT is still payable in your own country.
The exemption does not cover everything: agricultural goods, and coal and steel products, follow different rules. We confirm the duty position for your specific commodity code when we quote.
And from China?
Goods of Chinese origin do attract customs duty on entry to the EU at the rate for their commodity code, on top of import VAT. This is a real difference from Türkiye and it can reverse an apparently cheaper Chinese quote once duty and freight are added.
Duty rates and trade measures change often, and differ between the EU and the United States, so we confirm the position per shipment rather than publishing rates that may go stale.
How long will my order take?
From Türkiye, a straightforward order is often six to twelve weeks end to end: shortlist and quote, samples, production, then about a week of road transit. From China, expect longer, mainly because sea freight runs roughly four to seven weeks port to port.
These are indicative. Product complexity, factory workload and season all move them. We commit to dates on your specific order.
How do you charge?
We quote you a landed cost per unit, and our fee is agreed before you commit. You will always know what our margin is on the order — we are not interested in the model where the buyer never quite learns what the factory actually charged.
Web, SEO and marketing work is quoted separately from sourcing.
What payment terms are normal?
Most factories work on a deposit to begin production and the balance before or on shipment. The exact split is negotiated per order and stated in writing before any money moves.
Wherever we can negotiate it, we structure the balance to fall due after a satisfactory pre-shipment inspection. That single term protects a small importer more than anything else in the contract.
How do I know the goods will match the sample?
Because the approved sample becomes the written reference standard, and we inspect against it before the goods leave the factory — while the supplier still has a commercial reason to fix problems.
Inspection covers quantity, workmanship, labelling and packing. A defect found in the factory is a correction; the same defect found after arrival in Copenhagen is a negotiation you will probably lose.
Can you verify a supplier I have already found?
Yes, and it is often money well spent. We can confirm the company is registered and real, that it manufactures rather than resells, and that its export documentation is in order. Our regional managers can visit in person.
Do you handle shipping and customs clearance?
Yes. We consolidate shipments where possible, prepare the commercial documents, and coordinate customs clearance through to your delivery address. From Türkiye that is usually road freight; from China, normally sea, with air freight when the numbers justify it.
Which countries do you sell to?
Our buyers are mainly in the Nordic countries and the United States. Our head office is in Copenhagen and we have a dedicated North America sales contact. Enquiries from elsewhere in Europe are welcome — ask and we will be straight about whether we can serve you well.
Do you deal with product compliance and CE marking?
We help make sure your supplier provides the documentation and testing your product category requires, and we flag when a product looks likely to need certification you have not budgeted for.
Ultimate legal responsibility for a product placed on the EU market sits with the importer, not the sourcing agent. We will tell you plainly where that line falls for your product.
What happens if a shipment arrives damaged or short?
We deal with the supplier and the freight forwarder on your behalf. This is precisely why inspection records, photographs and a written specification matter — a documented claim gets resolved, an undocumented one becomes an argument.
Is Türkiye or China better for my product?
It depends on the product and the quantity. Türkiye generally wins on lead time, minimum order size and duty into the EU. China generally wins on category breadth, component availability and unit cost at higher volumes.
We quote whichever genuinely suits the order. The comparison guide sets out the trade-offs in detail.
Do you also build websites and run marketing?
Yes — as part of the Wexpom group we build websites and online shops, and run SEO, targeted campaigns and email marketing. It exists because many of our buyers are small enough not to have an in-house digital team, and importing good stock is only useful if you can sell it.
How quickly do you reply?
Within one business day for sourcing enquiries. You can reach us by email, WhatsApp or WeChat. Office hours are Mon–Fri, 09:00–17:00 CET, and our North America contact covers US hours.
Nothing on this page is legal, tax or customs advice. Duty rates, VAT treatment and product-compliance obligations depend on your specific goods, commodity code and country, and they change. Treat this as orientation and confirm the details for your own situation — we will help you do that on a real order.
